Meet Janet
Decades of service. A lifetime of commitment.
Janet Eleanore Barnard is an energetic self-starter with a vision of government based on her education at University of Waterloo in Environmental Studies and Urban/Rural Planning. She worked for the Ministry of Citizenship, Provincial, manning the multilingual "0" help line. A hardworking, soapy, business person, she moved on to own a string of laundromats in Toronto until COVID. She is a show-stopping musician on her spare time, teaches ESL and music. She has volunteered over the years with the HOST Program, mentoring new citizens's families with hurdles such as language, education, health and legal issues, and was active with Meals-On-Wheels driving and running.
Her platform emulates that of the late Honourable Jack Layton, who requested individual votes on issues by mail and phone, and who conducted Telephone Town Halls regularly to discuss the Pros and Cons of issues, asking for button pushing voting all the way through. His methods allowed everyone to participate in our government.
